what is rambl?
social media these days is all about algorithmically recommended content that appeals to your most base emotions to manipulate you. at least half of it is ai-generated slop, and more and more it seems the goal is to shout your opinions louder than the other guy and keep you glued to the screen as long as possible.
i hate the current state of social media platforms, and i miss when social media was about connecting people and sharing human thoughts and connections. that's why i started rambl. rambl is a site where you write down what you want to share and just share it. no algorithms. no ai. no advertising. no data hoarding. just real people's real thoughts on a really unprofessional website.
how does it work?
first of all, you will need to register. please make sure you read the full terms/ code of conduct and privacy policy before you sign up as it's all important stuff, i tried to make it as short and painless to read as possible.
on the home page, you can see rambl threads on the left, and on the right side you'll see the sidebar, which contains a list of the 10 newest posts as well as a "tag cloud", which shows the most popular topics at the moment in bigger or smaller text based on popularity.
when you have a new thought you want to share, click the new rambl button on the home page to start a new post, or "rambl". write whatever you want the title of your rambl to be in the subject field, and your full thought in the message field. i also recommend you add tags to your posts, such as the topic(s) you talk about or what kind of writing your post is (e.g. poetry, rhetorical questions), though this is not required. use the handy buttons above the message field to add text styles, links, or embed images (more in depth guide on post styling coming soon!) then, just check the little box if you want to get emailed if you get a reply to your post, hit "ok - submit", and boom, you're done!
when you're viewing someone else's post, you can click the "post reply" button to leave a reply on the post and maybe get a conversation going! you can even add your favorite posts to your bookmarks so you'll never lose them.
